FAQs

What is a CSA?

This is just another way of saying “subscription.” CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. The idea is that you purchase a share of the farm up front and then receive a fresh cut bouquet each week. You get to fill your home with flowers and experience a weekly dopamine hit from all that beauty and the farmer gets to ensure that the flowers they’ve worked so hard to grow will go to a loving home. This also helps the farmer pay for their growing season at a time when costs are high, but products are readily available to be sold just yet.

Where do you grow the flowers?

Our flowers are grown on 1/10 of an acre right in York, Maine. We are a woman-owned family business committed to sustainable farming practices.

Are the flowers organic?

We follow organic farming practices and never use pesticides, though we do not have organic certification from the USDA since that’s a whole thing. We keep our kids far away from chemicals and that means never using them on the farm — we live with and manage the weeds in other ways. The benefit to you is that our flowers will always last longer than ones in the grocery store because they get cut fresh just for you, and you can feel good about having them in your home.

Where do I pick up my flowers?

We are thrilled to share that Lovebirds Donuts in Kittery will once again be our pickup location for subscribers.

Do you deliver?

Yes! We’re bringing back delivery this year for folks in York, Cape Neddick, Kittery, Eliot, South Berwick — and now Ogunquit!

What happens if I miss a week?

If you’ve selected the delivery option and you’re going out of town, email us and we can double up another week. You could also send a friend to pick up your flowers in your absence. Flowers that aren’t claimed at the pickup location will be donated. Sorry, but I can’t hold unclaimed flowers overnight.

Is the farm open to the public?

We are not open to the public at this time, though we’d be happy to host you for a short tour by appointment. Reach out to us by email and we can get something set up: hello@appleseedflowerfarm.com.
